A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department has revealed that the decision to bring felony charges against CeeLo Green, the star of NBC’s hit reality series “The Voice,” for furnishing a controlled substance, was made after the woman who accused him of giving her ecstasy and sexually assaulting her last year, pressed the button to turn around the big red chair she was sitting in, after hearing Green speak during a voice lineup at LAPD headquarters.
According to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department, they began using the big red chairs made popular on “The Voice” earlier this month in an attempt to get witnesses and victims of crimes more excited about coming forward and participating in voice lineups.
“We told the victim when you hear the voice of the man who gave you the ecstasy, press the button to turn around your chair,” the LAPD spokesperson told Hollywood & Swine. “Mr. Green was the first person I’ve ever seen not to have a smile on his face after causing one of those big red chairs to turn around.”
Unlike the contestants on “The Voice,” who after making a chair turn around get to compete to win $100,000 and a record deal, the only thing CeeLo will get to compete for is his freedom when he returns to court on November 20th. Fortunately for CeeLo, Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey has decided to allow Carson Daly to host the trial as well as grant CeeLo permission to pet his beloved cat, Purrfect, in court.
